Announcing the Best Players of “Bigger and Better!”

On May 23, the encounter activity “Bigger and Better” gave participants an extraordinary experience as it required them to exchange what they had in order to get bigger or better objects from others.
When the game began, members were divided into four groups. Each group began exchanging things with different people in and around the club using the Life Pegs’ logo bottle. Groups who brought back the biggest or best objects were the winners. It sounded like quite a challenging task, but they made it!
One group got a huge bag of detergent with their membership bottle and then exchanged the detergent for two big flower baskets in a shop. Without a doubt, they got the biggest articles. Another group exchanged their bottle for a facial cleanser, then traded the cleanser for an article of clothing in a foreign trade store, and finally they traded-up to a 60¥ baby carpet at a baby products store. There was another group who traded for a valuable VIP card from a Western restaurant – something which is usually only attainable after spending over 1000¥ in the restaurant – leading the judges to declare that this last group had gotten the most valuable thing.
The participants said the game “was really novel and could stimulate them to improve communication skills in expressing themselves”. “We learned how to talk with strangers,” they agreed.
The “Bigger and Better” game let the participants make entirely new attempts at both bargaining and communicating. They accomplished tasks that seemed impossible.
